On September 12, the 2nd International Exhibition and Conference on Water Management – Baku Water Week – concluded at the Baku Expo Center. The event was held with the support of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan. It was organized by Caspian Event Organisers along with its international partners, Caspian Event Management and ICA Events.
Around 70 companies and delegations from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, India, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, the United States of America, Turkiye, Switzerland, and Sweden participated in Baku Water Week.
One of the main goals of the exhibition and conference was to attract new technologies and investments to Azerbaijan that would contribute to the further development of the sector in the region, as well as to discuss important issues, new projects, and opportunities for cooperation. In this regard, Baku Water Week served as a unique meeting place for manufacturers, government institutions, and foreign investors, offering unlimited opportunities for collaboration and long-term partnerships.
In recent years, within the framework of urgent measures set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, important projects have been implemented in the country. The adopted national water strategy defines clear goals for the coming decades: fair and efficient management of water resources, modernization of infrastructure and the introduction of digital technologies, development of alternative and sustainable water supply sources, and strengthening science, innovation, and international cooperation.
The exhibition featured a variety of products and services, including analysis and laboratory technologies, pipes and pipeline equipment, cloud seeding technologies, drainage equipment, hydraulic structures, drinking water purification, water supply and sewage systems, construction and drilling machinery, and equipment for water management and much more. As part of the event, B2B and B2G meetings were held to foster cooperation between government bodies, the private sector, and innovative startups.
The organizers of Baku Water Week 2025 presented a rich business program. Key themes included water resource management, efficient water use, global climate change, water security, innovative approaches to water management, water diplomacy, and new water technologies and practices.
On the first day, presentations were held in the exhibition area on the topics “Comprehensive Solutions for Water Treatment” and “Achieving Guaranteed Results Through Integrated Engineering of Water Supply and Wastewater Facilities.” A case session titled “Global Climate Change: Drought Risk Management in Azerbaijan,” an expert discussion on “The Current State of the Caspian Sea: Problems and Solutions,” and a session on “Sustainable Wastewater Management: Toward COP29 Goals” were also conducted.
On September 11, within the framework of Baku Water Week 2025, the 2nd International Water Management Conference was held, organized by the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the conference, Khayyam Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of ADSEA, stated that water resource management is no longer a national issue but has global significance. According to him, cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives are of special importance, making the conference an excellent platform for discussing projects and proposals that will shape our next steps.
At the plenary session on “Leadership in Water Resource Management: Regional and Global Perspectives,” moderated by Professor Olcay Ünver from Arizona State University, speakers included ADSEA Chairman Zaur Mikayilov, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, the President of COP29 and Climate Representative of the President of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev, CEO of ACWA Power Marco Arcelli, and Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev.
During the three days of Baku Water Week, models were displayed in the foyer of the Baku Expo Center, including the Zabukhchay Reservoir in the liberated Karabakh region, the “Shiber” water wheel, the Govsan aeration station, the Baku water supply system, the Oguz–Gabala water supply system, as well as exhibits on the history of water.
Members of the inclusive society “Ümid var” presented artworks under the theme “Baku Water Week 2025 Through the Eyes of the Special Ones.” Hackathon competition winning teams were also awarded.
Thus, Baku Water Week contributed to the formation of new initiatives and effective business connections and improved the efficiency of water resource management in Azerbaijan.
