On September 10, the 2nd International Exhibition and Conference on Water Management – Baku Water Week – opened at the Baku Expo Center. The event is held with the support of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan. The organizer is Caspian Event Organisers, along with its international partners Caspian Event Management and ICA Events. The Azerbaijan Exhibition Organizers Association (ASTA) is also actively supporting Baku Water Week.
At the official opening ceremony of the 2nd International Exhibition and Conference on "Water Management", the Chairman of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, Zaur Mikayilov, and the CEO of “Caspian Event Organisers”, Farid Mammadov, delivered speeches.
In his speech, Mr. Mikayilov emphasized that the first Baku Water Week, held last year, demonstrated the importance and necessity of this platform. Becoming a traditional event, this exhibition and conference provide an opportunity for relevant discussions on water resources management, protection, and, most importantly, their sustainability for future generations. The speaker underlined that the current task is to ensure water security and access to clean water for all citizens of the country. Achieving these goals requires cooperation between countries in political, economic, and scientific spheres. He expressed confidence that the business meetings, presentations, and exchanges of views held within the framework of Baku Water Week would contribute to deepening cooperation in this field.
Mr. Mammadov described the topic of water as one of the most important on today’s global agenda. Climate change, freshwater scarcity, and environmental problems are no longer the concerns of a single country—they are global challenges facing all of humanity. Baku Water Week provides a platform to seek answers to these challenges, foster ideas and innovations in this field, and strengthen cooperation in achieving the goals of water resource preservation. He shared participation statistics for the event, expressed gratitude to the sponsors, and wished the attendees a productive exhibition.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, participants and guests of the event took part in a VIP tour.
In recent years, within the framework of urgent measures determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, a number of major projects have been carried out in the country: modernization of irrigation systems, construction of new reservoirs, restoration of irrigation networks, application of desalination technologies, including pilot projects on desalination of the Caspian Sea water.
